In the 90s an exceptional barrow of a Celtic prince was discovered on nearby Glauberg. This location became famous by this sensational find with several graves, a procession route and the life-size stone figure of a Celtic warrior with grave furnishings of the 5th century before Christ. A museum, as well as an archaeological park, give an extraordinary insight into the life of the Celts.
Come and see the “Felsenkeller” of Dauernheim. More than 100 cellars hewn into stone can be seen in this little place as a special cultural relic.

Nidda – a Charming Centre
Bad Salzhausen is a part of Nidda. The marketplace with its historical fountain is the perfect starting point for a short stroll through the pedestrian area with its lovely half-timbered houses. Small pubs, pretty bistros and an old-fashioned hotel brewery cater for all tastes.
During a short stroll through the town you become acquainted with many monuments: e.g. the Heiliggeistkirche, one of the oldest hall churches of Hessen, the castle (formerly surrounded by a moat) or the Johanniterturm.
